I painted this for my mother's eightieth birthday. It is a pale peach colored hibiscus flower from a beautiful plant given to me by my friend Priscilla. My mom and I both loved the colors and play of light in the photograph and then in the painting itself. Some people find it odd that the flower is turned away from the picture but we really loved the composition and the beautiful stem leaves.
